So you are feeling adventurous or don't want to pay for a flight from Managua. What ever your reason is I've got a few helpful tips.
Your stops:
Wait for a bus going to Rama. You might get lucky and get a directo bus to Rama. The bus ride will probably take around 6 - 8 hours.
Once in Rama find out when the next speed boat heads to Bluefields. My boat left the next day at 5 am in the morning. A good hotel to stay at by the dock in Rama is hotel Dona Luisa.
Next day jump on your boat to Bluefields. The ride is about 1 1/2 hours and is pretty fun.
Once in Bluefields find out when boat is going to big Corn Island. They have two boats that make the trip. The small boat takes 4 to 6 hours and the big boat takes 8 hours. Weather will dictate which boat is running. If going on the big boat get on board early and get a bed.
Captain D is the big black boat. Under the red roof are beds and seats. More beds are below in the back of the boat on lower level inside. They have a small kitchen for some basic food and drinks.
If your arrive on big Corn Islands late. Then you can get a hotel or stay on the big boat and sleep.
Next day catch a early morning speed boat ride to little Corn Islands. If the weather is bad I would advise waiting for the weather to get better before making the trip. Its a really dangerous boat ride when the weather is bad. I vowed never to make the trip again in bad weather. Its a tragedy waiting to happen in my opinion. If you do attempt the trip in bad weather. Waterproof everthing and make sure your life vest fits properly.
