I’ve been in Leon, Nicaragua for about 2 days now and finally recovered from chicken bus lag. Coming from the cool mountains of El Salvador it was making me a little sluggish getting adjusted to Leon, Nicaragua’s oven baking daytime temperatures.
Seems the best time to try and get anything done is in the early mornings or late evenings. I have been wandering around Leon trying to figure out what I think the theme of the city is. Lots of war graffiti on the walls and plenty of museums about Leon’s violent past. One mural caught my eye with of a rock that has the letters CIA and a two-headed dragon emerging from it. So messing around I made my own little war theme picture.
Lots of Museums to explore and the people are very friendly. Walking by a war museum yesterday some men that spoke very good English called me over and asked if I was an American. They were very eager to explain Leon, Nicaragua’s history to me.
I think the city really comes alive at night and it’s such a relief from the midday heat.
Plenty of food carts to grab a bite to eat.
Walking around I noticed a lot of families using horse-powered carts to get around.
You won’t miss the numerous statues around the city.
This is the cathedral in parque central in Leon, Nicaragua.
