Why it matters what clothing you wear in foreign countries.
Dress like a fool and you will be treated like a fool. If you are looking for trouble at border crossings, then dress like a dirty drug smoking loser or wear camouflage military clothing.
People in the developing worlds might be poor in the bank, but they have pride in the way they dress and their personal hygiene. People look down on you when you dress like a bum. Clean clothing and a shaven face will help you intermingle in the society.
If you are a dirty drug smoking loser then I would suggest having your documentation in order and a big smile on your face. Take a bath and leave the drugs behind.
True story: Two nasty dressed travelers cross the border into Brazil and are given a 2 day stamp on their passport. Basicly the border guards were saying, “ we don't want you in our country.”
It has been my experience that people that are well dressed have less problems in foreign countries. You get more respect from the police when you are dressed for success. Your odds increase of being shaken down for money when you are dressed like a stupid fool.
