City Center (San Salvador)

Things to do in San Salvador
(City Center)

So you made it to San Salvador and you are still alive and feeling confident.  If staying at the International Guest's house Hotel then I got a easy plan. Lets go the heart of San Salvador and see some churches and crazy big markets. The cost for a local bus will be 25 cents each way.

  1. From the International Guest's House Hotel take a left out the front door and proceed walking up the road until you come to a park. Walk through the park and you will be at Calle San Antonio Abad.
  2. Take a left at Calle San Antonio Abad.
  3. Catch bus # 22 on the other side of the road heading east.
  4. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes until you see a big large yellow and blue church dome.
Get off bus now.

From here you can walk toward the church and take a look at the front.

If you keep proceeding up the road for a few blocks you will come to a giant market called Mercado Central on 8a Calle Poniente.

Look for this Church.

Walk toward the church and you will soon be in a maze of stuff for sell.

To get back home go back to the big blue and yellow doomed church. Facing the front of the church catch Bus # 22 on the right side of the church. Going back the way you came.

If you are lost catch a cab home. Sorry.

The #1 tip for getting ready to travel?

Buy your plane ticket to your destination! I’ve always found that the only way to truly get ready for leaving home is to purchase your plane ticket. That forces you to mentally get all the little stuff done around home.
